Is Your Foreclosure Company Name Safe From Predators?
Stopping Foreclosure is an art, not something that the average person can take on whenever they feel like negotiating with lenders. Bargaining for better rates or lower payments is not negotiating. That is bargaining, like you do at yard sales or the thrift shop.
Professional negotiators go beyond pricing, interest rates and payment terms. They work hard for their clients to get them the best arrangements that can be obtained. Those arrangements may include anything dealing with contracts, whether they are land contracts, short sales, deed in lieu, or Foreclosure prevention to stop a sheriff sale. Any other contracts such as business dealings are not the scope of this article.
How do you know when you have become successful as a leader in the Foreclosure prevention industry or any other business? Look around you. Do a search for the primary keywords that define your business and mainly, your company name. See who is using your keywords or parts of your name to benefit themselves. Using part of a company name is a dirty game to dilute the benefits of having that name and the impact the name has in its industry.
An example for our discussion is a search for Freedom Foreclosure Prevention Services. Look at the paid ads on the right and notice the ads that contain the words Freedom Foreclosure but are not related to the actual company who created that name. The results may differ for each person and each search performed, but every search will return at least some unrelated links.
You may think that is trivial, but think how you would feel when someone did that to your company name. It would be diluted to have less effect on brand name and you would have a tougher time staying at the top of the search engine results.
These methods are in effect stealing the identity of many companies, with little recourse unless the company name is trademarked both in whole and each of its parts. That in itself is a challenge with any company name that contains more than one word. Consider the abbreviation, FFPS. There are other companies whose name also abbreviates to those letters. However, in the Foreclosure loss Mitigation industry, there is only one company who uses those letters and that is Freedom Foreclosure Prevention Services.
What is the answer to this dilemma? Other than renaming the company to a one-word identity, or using the domain name as the company name, as some do, the best way to avoid being drowned in brand dilution is to get that name recognized more in the mainstream media. That is done by training staff, consultants, affiliates, resellers, and everyone else you have promoting your services, to write articles, participate in discussion groups, advertise anywhere and everywhere, using your company name.
Your collaborative efforts will in effect drown those who are attempting to rob you of your name and success. When they know that they cannot defeat you, they just might join your company and help with your promotions. Those who know how to get media recognition could be good allies.

Good Article and I agree on many points - however, in my opinion, as strong a case as you want to make for our identity as FFPS you hide behind the anonymity of your blog and don’t tell us anything about who you are.
I have a Real Estate blog (www.HemetRealEstateBlog.Com) that ranks in the top 2 pages of Google for all of my local SE terms - and if you were to check it out you will know just about everything there is to know about me. Yes I have flaws, and I write about them. You know what, my public loves it as my blog is my #1 source of business in 2007. Just yesterday I took a listing from an out of state client.
So, I say blog on - but make it personal!
Now Have a Blessed Day,
